Our Story

We built the company
we wish existed.

Baytly started with a simple, painful observation: one of America's largest Muslim communities lived in the same city for decades and couldn't build wealth the halal way. This is the story of why that had to change.

Where It Started

Minnesota. The Somali community. An impossible choice.

Minnesota is home to one of the largest Somali communities in the world outside of Somalia. Tens of thousands of families who came with almost nothing, worked incredibly hard, and built lives in a new country.

But homeownership — the single most reliable path to building generational wealth in America — was out of reach for many. Not because they couldn't afford it. Because they wouldn't compromise their faith to get there.

The existing Islamic financing options were real, but they felt like they were built for a different era. Slow. Opaque. Difficult to access. And priced with no competition.

Baytly was built to fix that. Not as a side project. As a mission.

What We Saw

The four things that had to change.

01 — The Access Problem
Families didn't know halal financing existed

The Islamic financing options that did exist weren't discoverable. No live calculators. No transparent pricing. No digital applications. You had to know someone who knew someone. That's not a product — that's a secret club. We wanted to build something anyone could find, understand, and use on their phone at midnight.

02 — The Trust Problem
The community had been burned — badly

We heard the same story too many times. Families who handed over their savings to developers promising halal housing projects that never materialized. The scars are real. The skepticism is earned. We knew that any new entrant claiming "Islamic finance" would face — and deserve — intense scrutiny. We designed Baytly around radical transparency specifically because of this history.

03 — The Speed Problem
45–60 day closings in a 7-day offer market

In competitive housing markets, if your financing takes 45–60 days to close, you lose every offer. Muslim families were consistently outbid — not because they were less qualified, but because their financing moved slower. Technology should have solved this years ago. We built Baytly to close in 21 days.

04 — The Competition Problem
One option is not a market

When there's only one Islamic home financing option in the country, there's no pressure to improve, no competition on rates, no incentive to build better technology. The community deserves a real market — multiple providers competing for their business, driving down rates and driving up quality. Baytly entering the market is a first step toward that.

What We Stand For

Five principles we will not compromise on.

☪️

Faith First, Always

Every product decision starts with one question: is this halal? Not "is this compliant enough" or "will this pass review." Is it genuinely, unambiguously permissible according to Islamic principles? If the answer is anything other than yes, we go back to the drawing board.

🔍

Radical Transparency

We publish our pricing methodology. We publish our Sharia certification. We publish our state licenses. We publish our annual audit. If we make a mistake, we disclose it. Our community has been burned by opacity — we will not add to that history.

Technology as a Tool for Justice

Slow, inaccessible processes disproportionately hurt working families. Technology that makes financing faster and more accessible is not just a business advantage — it's an equity issue. We build fast because fast matters to real people with real deadlines.

🤝

Community is Not a Marketing Word

We are from this community. We are accountable to this community. We will make decisions based on what is good for Muslim families, not what is good for our valuation. If those ever conflict, families win. That is not negotiable.

📈

Long-Term Over Short-Term

We are not building Baytly to flip it. We are building it to last. The decisions we make today — on compliance, on customer protection, on pricing fairness — are designed for a 20-year company, not a 3-year exit. The community deserves an institution, not a startup.

Where We're Going

The plan. Shared publicly.

We believe you should know exactly what we're building and when. No vague promises. A real roadmap, updated as we hit milestones.

A Personal Note

A letter from our founder.

"

To the families on our waitlist — and those still on the fence:

I know you've heard this before. A company that says it's different. A product that claims to be halal. A founder who says they understand the community.

I'm not going to ask you to take my word for it. I'm going to ask you to watch what we do. Watch whether our Sharia certification is real and published. Watch whether our pricing is transparent or hidden behind a phone call. Watch whether our licenses are verifiable or just claimed. Watch whether we close deals in 21 days or make excuses.

Our community deserves a company that earns trust through actions, not words. We know the weight of what we're asking people to trust us with — their homes, their savings, their families' futures. We don't take that lightly for a single day.

We built Baytly for you. And we will prove it every day.

With respect and accountability,
